Retro Picnic

One of the contests coming up at Spoonflower is picnic designs, luckily I have one already designed and printed. The plastic picnic set belonged to my Grandmother, she had lots of great retro things especially because her favourite colour was orange.

Fabulous Finds

I had a wonderful day driving around the countryside with my husband on Friday. First he had a business meeting at Birdwood where I picked up the two full length Aprons. Then on to Mt Pleasant for lunch at the Bakery and great finds at the local collectibles shop, some retro plates from Johnston's Australia and a gorgeous citrus coloured apron. Then a nice drive over the hills and through the plains to Murray Bridge for a few more great retro finds.

Cosy Crochet Slippers

Just finished these slippers for my sister-in-law. Next some for the boys, maybe in stripes.

Japanese Cameo Hexagon Progress

The hexagons for the Japanese Cameo quilt are progressing well. I love hand stitching, it is so relaxing and you can take it anywhere to work on.

This is what the finished piece should look like.

Fabulous Finds

Some fab finds lately at two local op shops. The black and white plates are not that old but I love the pattern. Love the two tablecloths too, can never have too many of those.

Laughing Frog

Laughing Frog slipped into the top ten last week at Spoonflower.

Here is the top ten fabric bundle, I think they look great together. Love the winning design from ebbygom, all the other designs look great too!

Hakea

The Hakea is my favourite Australian flower. I love the way it unfolds and changes colour, from the soft lime yellow to the rich dark pinks and reds. I picked these from a small tree this morning, hopefully they may be the inspiration for a yardage design soon.

Mod Foliage Wallpaper

So happy last week to come third in the mod wallpaper contest at Spoonflower. This is the wallpaper printed at Spoonflower. There were so many great designs, it makes me feel like redecorating.

Fabulous Finds

I was really hoping to find some treasures on our trip away, unfortunately almost every time we went past a fantastic looking country op shop it was either too late or Sunday and it was closed. While travelling around with my brother I did manage to pop into two op shops, and as a result got this cute bear plate.

In the second shop I found these brown stoneware plates and a pear plate. My brother did delight in saying "look at that great retro vintage shop" and then driving straight past.

Torquay Trip Part Two

On the Saturday of our holiday in Torquay my brother and sister-in-law were kind enough to take us to the airforce museum at Pt Cook. There were wonderful displays of restored aircraft and objects from the first and second world war. The boys did enjoy it but they were very keen to go to the gift shop. On the way back we had a look further up the coast and a stop for fish and chips for lunch.

We drove home on Sunday and stopped at Ballarat for some lunch while the boys played at the park. The town is rich in history and the architecture is amazing as there was so much wealth here during the gold rush. I hope we can come back to Ballarat for a holiday soon.

We had beautiful light on the way home and it was a good opportunity to take a few shots of the Grampians as we were driving past.

Crochet Slippers

It is always good to have something to do while travelling long distances in the car. The drive to Torquay was going to be about ten hours including stops so I thought why not crochet a pair of slippers, something that is enjoyable and productive. I had seen a few types of slippers on the internet but I usually make the pattern up as I go along.

I haven't finished these yet and will have to decide how to decorate them. The bag I keep the wool in is one of my favourites, from an op shop a few months ago.
